While our scholarship is both needs and merit based (e.g., academic performance, community service, extra-curricular participation, etc.), the ideal applicant demonstrates an all-around effort to improve his or her life, as well as the lives of others, often overcoming obstacles to do so.

Scholarship Application Disclaimer, Privacy & Security Notice

Scholarship Application Terms and Conditions All scholarship applications will be reviewed and considered on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. To be eligible for consideration, completed applications and all required letters of recommendation must be submitted no less than three (3) months before the date scholarship funds are needed for payment. Applicants should expect to receive communication regarding their application within eight (8) weeks of submission. Scholarship awards will vary in amount and will not exceed $5,000. The selection of scholarship recipients and the amount of any award are exclusively at the discretion of Point the Way Foundation. Point the Way Foundation reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue its scholarship program at any time without prior notice. Applicants may submit an application once during any one-year period (Jan. 1 – Dec. 31 of the calendar year), and may apply again after that period has elapsed, provided they have not previously received a Point the Way Foundation scholarship. Scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply for a second scholarship. All applications and accompanying materials are submitted solely for the purpose of evaluating eligibility for and awarding scholarships through Point the Way Foundation. Submitted applications and supporting documents will not be returned to the applicant.

Privacy, Confidentiality & Information Security Point the Way Foundation recognizes the sensitive and confidential nature of the personal, educational, and financial information submitted with scholarship applications. The Foundation is committed to protecting this information and limiting its use to the scholarship review and administration process.

-Purpose and Use of Information: Information submitted through the scholarship application, including personal details, academic records, financial documentation, and letters of recommendation, will be used solely for evaluating scholarship eligibility, making award decisions, administering scholarships, and related scholarship program requirements. Information will not be sold or used for unrelated marketing purposes.

-Secure Storage and Restricted Access: Scholarship applications and supporting documents are securely stored and accessible only to one authorized user designated by Point the Way Foundation. Access to this information is subject to an audit log to support accountability and review of access activity.

-Document Retention and Permanent Deletion: Scholarship applications and supporting documents will be retained only as necessary for scholarship evaluation, administration, and applicable recordkeeping requirements. Files will be securely stored for no longer than six (6) months following the receipt of the application and will then be permanently deleted, subject to any applicable legal, regulatory, or recordkeeping obligations. Where deletion is required, the Foundation will take reasonable steps to ensure that the files are removed from the applicable storage systems and are no longer accessible through ordinary means.

-Applicant Responsibility: Applicants should submit only the information and documentation requested for scholarship consideration. Applicants should not include unrelated sensitive personal information in their submissions.

Acknowledgment and Consent By submitting a scholarship application, the applicant acknowledges that they have read and understood these Scholarship Application Terms and Conditions and the Privacy, Confidentiality & Information Security Notice. The applicant consents to the collection, use, storage, and processing of the submitted information for the purposes described above. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award. All scholarship decisions remain at the sole discretion of Point the Way Foundation, subject to the terms of this notice.
